How do you get to Carnegie Hall? All the practice in the world won’t do the trick this time – not if you want tickets to see world renowned conductor James Levine and the incomparable MET Orchestra. Luckily, the Rutgers Club of New York City has you covered (we’ve been practicing!)

2010

Annual Holiday Party - Took place this year on December 20 at The Collective in New York's Meatpacking district. Alumni, friends, and loyal sons and daughters of Rutgers rang in the season with laughter, song and good conversation.

 

The Scarlet Knights of NYC made Brother Jimmy's their homebar for the 2010 football season tailgate parties.

Metropolitan Museum of Art - In February the Rutgers Club of New York City coordinated a guided tour at the Metropolitan Museum of Art that was led by Dr. Seth Gopin, Rutgers own recently retired Dean of Art History and attended by ~ 50 RU alumni.

2008

Beer Tasting - Members of the RCNYC attended the Rutgers Club first annual Beer-Tasting Event in 2008. They sampled a variety of excellent beers at the 3-hour beer and wine open bar, and socialized with other RU Alums.

2006

Rutgers Opening Football Game- Members of the RCNYC drove to the opening game of the 2006 Rutgers Football Season as the Scarlet Knights took on the UNC Tar Heels and won! RU Rah Rah! RU Rah.

2005

Meritorious Service Awards Dinner - The Rutgers Club of Southern California, represented by Lana Sternberg and Jack Ottomanelli, share the award for Best Regional Club with The Rutgers Club of NYC, represented by Heather Morrison. It was a great year for all Regional Alumni Clubs, "coast to coast!"

RCNYC Holiday Party - The Rutgers Club of NYC Board Members were pleased to have President McCormick attend our 2005 Holiday Party, held at the Puck Building in SoHo, NYC.

2004

Taster's Guild Wine Tasting - The Club hosted a wine tasting at The Sailors', Soildiers', Marines' and Airmens' Club with the Tasters Guild of NY. Over 20 different wines were presented from various regions around the world.

RCNYC Holiday Party - Each year the RCNYC holds a Holiday Party in mid-December for members and their guests. The 2004 party took place at The Williams Club. Shown here are some of our members and guests.

Homecoming - Homecoming is the perfect time to visit Rutgers! Make sure to stop by The Rutgers Club of NYC table in the Alumni Field.

2003

City Opera - The Club's visit to Lincoln Center's City Opera was outstanding.

Food Walking Tour - Our annual walk with Big Onion Tours around the Lower East Side sampling various snacks from the local immigrant populations that make New York City so unique and wonderful.

UN Wine Tasting - Members of the Rutgers Club of NYC and invited alumni enjoy a reception, co-sponsored with the Rutgers Federation, at the United Nations in February 2002. Alumni were able to enjoy a private tour of the U.N. before partaking in cocktails and food from around the world served in the Delegates' Dining Room overlooking the East River waterfront.

NYC Cares Day - Rutgers Club of NYC members shown taking part in New York Cares Day. Volunteers devote one Saturday, twice a year, to cleaning up the city's parks and schools with this local charity. Recent past event sites have been Morningside Park in Manhattan and PS127 in Queens.

2002

RCNYC Holiday Party - Each year the RCNYC holds a Holiday Party in mid-December for members and their guests. The 2002 party took place at the downtown offices of Michael Shenberg, Club President, where we celebrated the onset of the holiday season, as well as a very successful year for the club. Shown here are our lucky guests who won the Rutgers gifts which were raffled.

Cigar Event - Rutgers Club of NYC members and guests enjoy cigars, food and drink at the Nat Sherman Fifth Avenue shop in May 2002. Much was learned about how cigars are made from Mr. R. Sherman, one of the founder’s sons.

Sailing Cruise Event - In July, the RCNYC set sail off Pier 58, on Manhattan’s Westside, on board an 80ft schooner yacht. It was a perfect night- 3 hours of warm weather and clear skies- to enjoy refreshments with family & friends.

Happy Hours - We plan more Happy Hours at local establishments in the coming year. Salute!

Homecoming Golf - FORE! One of our board members is shown here “addressing the ball” at Rutgers Annual Homecoming Alumni Golf Tournament. Highlights included contests for the longest drive, closest ball to the pin, and for a hole in one.

New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Park - Each spring there is great excitement at the prospect of summer and the return of The New York Philharmonic's "Concerts in the Park." The Rutgers Club of NYC feels the same as we plan our summer events to include a performance on The Great Lawn in Central Park, Manhattan. For anyone who has attended these free summer concerts one highlight of the evening has always been the firework display afterwards. Bring a blanket and relax beneath the stars. We look forward to having you join us!

Taster's Guild Wine Tasting - The Club hosted a wine tasting at The Hotel Shelburne with the Tasters Guild of NY. Over 20 different wines were presented from various regions around the world.

Walking Tour - The Club co-hosted a Walking Tour with the Rutgers Foundation in celebration of Henry Rutgers. Members of the university community spoke about the Col. Henry Rutgers as we toured the Lower East Side where his family owned vast amounts of land.
